Almost ninety per cent of HerFamily.ie readers are in favour of marriage equality.
Thousands of you filled out our A Slice of Ireland survey and the results point to overwhelming support for the Yes side among voters.
The majority of readers who completed the HerFamily.ie survey were parents aged between 25 and 44, some 89 per cent of whom are registered to vote.
A total of 86.64 per cent of these plan to vote Yes, opposing the No side’s claims that a Yes vote will ‘take from the right of a child’ to have both a mother and a father.
Yesterday the Taoiseach called on Irish people to “open their hearts” to marriage equality, while today Agnes Brown joined the Yes campaign, offering her own poignant and funny take on the referendum and advising anyone who might still be on the fence to ‘grow up’.
To quote one of Ireland’s most famous Mammies:
“Any two people who feel in love enough should be allowed to get married, what’s the feckin’ fuss?”
