Ireland to be hit by post-tropical cyclone this weekend

We were pretty sure the good weather was over, but this just confirms it.

If you were planning a barbecue for this weekend you may want to rethink your plans as Ireland is in the path of a rather nasty-looking storm.

A subtropical storm that has been named Ernesto has formed in the Atlantic.

Storm Ernesto is currently moving east across the ocean and is expected to become a post-tropical cyclone by later today or tomorrow.

It’s on course to reach Ireland by Saturday night.

Temperatures are forecasted to reach the mid-20s on Saturday, though they could climb to as high as 25 degrees in parts of the south and south-east.

We can expect heavy downpours and lots of humidity.

Though there’s to be sunshine over parts of Munster and Leinster during Saturday day time, Met Éireann has said that heavy rain “will develop later in the day along the Atlantic Seaboard and will become widespread early Saturday night.
