A nationwide Status Yellow wind warning is in place across Ireland today with west to northwest winds expected to reach mean wind speeds of 50-60 km/h with gusts of 90-110 km/h.

Winds will continue “strong to gale force and gusty” until evening with top temperatures of just five or six degrees in the north and seven to nine degrees elsewhere.

AA Roadwatch has warned motorists to look out for fallen trees and debris on the roads and allow extra time for your journey.
