Holly Willoughby tears up listening to one viewer’s wedding day story on This Morning

The host was left feeling emotional after the interview.

Since news broke that Meghan Markle’s father would no longer be walking her down the aisle for her big day on Saturday, speculation over who would step in has royal onlookers consumed. Most predictions point in the way of Meghan's mother to fulfil the role, however, it's not uncommon for people to choose other members of their family and even friends. Discussing the topic on This Morning today, Holly and Phillip wanted to hear from people who didn’t stick to tradition and had someone other than their father walk them down the aisle. It was one story in particular that left the host emotional and that was Nicky’s, who spoke about her wedding day and the reason she chose to have her little boy accompany her to the altar.  

“My dad passed away so couldn’t fulfil the role,” Nicky said. “And I wanted my mum to keep her role as mother of the bride. "It just felt right for my son to have the honour and to be part of mummy and daddy’s very special day.”

“No, you’re going to make me cry,” Holly said as she read Nicky’s story on air, waving a cue card to fan herself.

The sweet story seemed to tug on a string for the presenter who is no stranger to shedding a tear on the show.
