Home of the Year is returning to RTÉ this week and we can’t wait

Like Room to Improve, then you'll love this.

Just when a new series of Room To Improve starts so does Home of the Year.

Whether or not you’re interested in architecture or even interior design, there is nothing more interesting than TV shows about home renovations. It started out with Grand Designs years ago, and since then other shows have been created.

At home in Ireland, we’ve had a steady flow of great series with the likes of Room To Improve and Home of the Year.

While you might be familiar with the premise of Room To Improve, where architect Dermot Bannon comes in and creates a new house design for an existing one, Home of the Year visits fully finished houses.

The fourth series of the show will return this Tuesday, February 28 at 8:30pm on RTÉ One.

Over 8 weeks, 21 homes will compete for the Home of the Year title, with three very different properties featured each week.

Speaking about the new series, RTÉ has said, “From re-design, new builds, renovations and restorations Home of the Year features people who have made their dream home, just the way they want it. The series will showcase homes from all across Ireland including a renovated schoolhouse building and an 18th-century mill turned home, contemporary new builds pushing the boundaries in design, a converted Irish farm cottage, re-imagined bungalows and semi-detached homes with a difference.”

Making the tough decisions on which homes go through to the final are three expert judges; designer Hugh Wallace,  interior designer Deirdre Whelan and architect Patrick Bradley.
