Homeless Couple Saved Boy’s Beloved Dog

Alison Bough

Sean Matthews, 10, from Tallaght in Dublin, was left devastated after his little dog Mojo escaped from the family home last month.

Sean, who has autism, was finally reunited with his beloved dog last weekend, with help from a homeless couple.

The young boy’s mum, Tara Matthews, now wants to raise money to help the couple who looked after the missing Chihuahua for a month. In a bid to repay them for their kindness the Dublin mum has set up a Go Fund Me page to help the pair through the bitter winter months on the streets:

“I’m raising money for a homeless couple who looked after our beloved puppy mojo, my Autistic son’s dog. Mojo went missing on the 4th of November and the couple have been loving and looking after our puppy, for the month that he was missing. They did not know that Mojo was a missing dog and looked after him. We would like to open this page as a huge thank you to the couple for reuniting us with Mojo.

A lot of people on social media who have followed and helped us on our search for Mojo have expressed their want to donate and gave us the idea. Anything that you would like to donate would be a huge help to this couple. Im going to be making the first donation of €100. I’d love more than anything for them to have the Christmas they deserve, after what they did for us and help them out in any way that we can.”

People have been giving generously to support the homeless couple and leaving heartwarming messages of support. Emma Dunne, who donated to the campaign wrote:

“Such a lovely thing to do , I know the couple were heartbroken handing mojo back but he has made a little boy very happy for the Xmas and hopefully with a few more donations we can all make theirs a happy one also”
Tara’s thoughtful idea has proved to be a huge success and has raised over €1,500 in just two days. Well done to everyone involved and welcome home Mojo!
