Room To Improve has been a much loved TV show over the past few years, and we absolutely jump for joy when it comes back onto our TV screens every spring.
The show has now been running for 11 seasons (which we can’t quite believe – have we been looking at Dermot that long? – Not that we’re complaining), and now it has been revealed just how many people apply for the series every year.
Speaking to the Irish Independent, Dermot said: “We have different clients applying with different needs. We would have maybe 400 people applying for the show and we whittle it down.
“It’s trying to get projects we haven’t done before. Every time the show comes for recommission, we get the same stuff. Picking them is the exciting bit.”
“What you’re doing is, you’re picking your work for the next year. It takes about a year to make the show and you’ve got to make sure you’re interested enough in the project.”
Ya hear that? Give a project that’s interesting enough to Dermot and he’ll be popping (and renovating) your house for the next year.
Now, if only we had a house for him to renovate…
