IKEA’s DIY flat-pack garden will literally drop your jaw

Amanda Cassidy

Behold the growroom.

This sphere of perfection is the answer to every problem I didn’t know I had.

It is made from plywood and you can now build it in your very own home. It is part of SPACE10 – a lab project supported by Ikea that helps the company gain “fresh perspectives” and discover new ideas to invest in.

The indoor farm is all about growing food locally and to promote the vision, it’s released the instructions for a vertical garden.

The company says;

“It is designed to support our everyday sense of well-being in the cities by creating a small oasis or ‘pause’-architecture in our high paced societal scenery and enables people to connect with nature as we smell and taste the abundance of herbs and plants. The pavilion, built as a sphere, can stand freely in any context and points in a direction of expanding contemporary and shared architecture.”

However, you will need to be a little more than handy to make your own – you will have to go online to get your own mini-garden as it isn’t available in stores. Space10 and Ikea has made the instructions downloadable as well as the cutting instructions but you will have to Do It Yourself (my most hated three words in the English language)

Check out the instructions which are free to download here
