The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) has said that the strike action planned across seven hospitals on January 14th (next Thursday) will see two-hour work stoppages.

According to RTÉ News, the INMO is seeking to “re-engage” with the HSE on how to deliver measures agreed at the Workplace Relations Commission regarding overcrowding and under-staffing.

The affected hospitals include Beaumont Hospital, Tallaght Hospital, University College Hospital Galway, Midland Regional Hospital (Tullamore), Cork’s Mercy University Hospital, Cavan General Hospital and University Hospital Waterford.

General Secretary Liam Doran reportedly said that it will take a lot from the HSE to encourage nurses to call off the strike action and that discussions would have to commence this evening.

He also said that plans are being put in place for the predicted stoppages.
