Investigation launched after car stolen from Dublin house with baby in back

Thankfully, the baby was found unharmed.

An investigation has been launched after a car was stolen with a baby in a back seat in Dublin.

The child, believed to be around one year old, was in the back of the cart when it was taken from outside a house in the area of Baldoyle.

The incident took place around 7.30am on Friday.

The car was found 40 minutes later, in a neighbourhood around 10 minutes from the family home.

The baby was found safe and well and has since been reunited with their parents.

Gardai are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have information about the incident to get in contact at Raheny station or on any official contact line.

A spokesperson for the Gardai said:

“Gardaí in Raheny are investigating an unauthorised taking of a car that had an infant in the back seat. The incident took place at Park Vale, Baldoyle at approximately 7:30am this morning, 12th January 2018.

“The car was located at approximately 8.15am in the Clongriffin area. The infant was unharmed during this incident. No arrests have been made. 

“Gardai are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to contact Raheny Garda station on 01 6664300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.”
