Investigation underway after baby found in a critical condition at home

A 10-week-old baby is fighting for its life in hospital after being found in a critical condition at an apartment block in Co Louth.

The Independent reports that the baby girl was found with injuries at her home on Monday and admitted to hospital nearby, but she has now been transferred to a Dublin hospital.

A Garda spokesperson told the newspaper;

"A ten-week-old girl was removed from a local hospital in Co Louth on Monday and transferred to a Dublin hospital where she remains in a serious condition. The circumstances of how the child received her injuries is now part of a garda investigation."

It is believed that officers are carrying out searches of the area and have appealed for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
