Now resident in the Big Apple, where she immigrated in 1921, Kathleen broke the longevity record previously held by Annie Isabella Scott, who lived for 113 years and 37 days.

She celebrated her landmark birthday last month with a party for friends and family in her New York nursing home.

Sipping her annual cocktail, a Manhattan, Kathleen answered the question on everybody’s minds: How does one live so long?

“I’ve got no secret.” she said. “You live and you do it the best you can.

“You can’t go through life thinking you’re better than the other guy.”
