An Irish boy accidentally spent a month of his mum’s wage, including her Christmas bonus, playing Fifa 18 on PlayStation.

The game was bought using the mum’s debit card, which then allowed the boy to purchase points within the game.

The 14-year-old did not know that the points cost money.

The pair also said that the game gave no warning that the points were not free.

The single-parent told 96FM‘s PJ Coogan that she had no money left for Christmas because of what happened.

“I get paid monthly so my paycheck went in last Friday for four weeks’ wages and they took the whole month’s pay out of the card.

“When purchasing the game or playing it they don’t tell you that this has a cost element. He didn’t have to do anything or click anything to activate my card.

“He never knew that when he was clicking away the money was being taken out of my account.”

The woman claimed that PlayStation are refusing to reimburse her for the issue.

She said when she contacted them, they told her that Fifa 18 is an adult’s game.

“They said there was nothing they can do. For any parents out there I want them to be aware. There is no lock or warning system in place.

“This was my first Christmas working full time and then to go to your bank account and find it empty with the whole months pay and overtime in the buildup to Christmas just gone is horrendous.”
