It was the eye-popping lotto win that sent the country into a Euromillions frenzy on January 24, but now the syndicate with the lucky ticket have finally broken their silence and collected their €88.5m prize.
The group, who purchased the winning ticket at a service station on the M1 in Lusk, Co. Dublin, travelled to the capital on Thursday to meet officials at Lotto headquarters.
While they have chosen to remain anonymous, a spokesperson for the winners told the
Irish Independent:
"We are absolutely delighted. We all have bills to pay with mortgages, loans and whatnot so we are looking forward to the financial freedom that comes with a win of this magnitude,’ a spokesperson for the syndicate said.
"We will be having a quiet party with family and friends to celebrate our good fortune. We will not be getting carried away with our win and we will return to normal everyday life as soon as possible. We’re looking forward to enjoying the win with our families and we might indulge by booking our sun holidays in the next couple of days,’ added the spokesperson.
In case you'd like to try your luck, the numbers drawn were 1, 5, 7, 17, 23 and the lucky stars were 3 and 8.
