“Have you #AdEnough?”

Jamie Oliver is calling on parents to join him in a campaign to target the advertising of junk food directly aimed at children.

The celebrity chef took to social media yesterday to announce the campaign, saying:

“Launching a very important campaign today to protect our kids from being bombarded by junk food advertising.

“So to change that, we’re asking the government to restrict how much junk food advertising kids are exposed to.

“And that’s where I need your help.”

Jamie has spent years working towards providing a healthier world for children, through talking about healthier school lunches and implementing a sugar tax.

His latest campaign is calling on Government to introduce a watershed on ads for unhealthy foods on TV and to restrict the advertising online and in public.

“I’ve been talking to government and they’re literally on the brink of protecting our kids from this advertising,” the dad-of-five said in a video posted online.

Jamie is asking everyone who is fed up with the constant targeted marketing to post a selfie of themselves covering their eyes and to include to catchy hashtag #AdEnough.

“I really believe we can get this over the line,” Jamie told followers. “We’re already got some amazing support in government and from big names in the sport, health and food worlds.

“This could be a really key moment in our fight against childhood obesity, and I’d love you to be a part of it.”

And the campaign has already caught on among some high profile parents including Fearne Cotton, Claudia Schiffer and Tom and Giovanna Fletcher.
