Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel has given an update on his three-month old son, after the infant had to have 0pen heart surgery.

His son, Billy, was born with a heart condition which means that he will need to have two more surgeries after this one.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Kimmel joked about his son’s condition after the surgery.

“He’s doing great. Young Billy made his first visit to our office today. He’s juggling. He’s translating Flaubert from French into English. He’s really an amazing kid.

No. He smiles. That’s pretty much it.”

Kimmel explained his son’s heart condition back in May on the opening segment of his talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live.

He told The Hollywood Reporter why he thinks it’s important to be open about what his family, and others around America, are going through.

“I had a lot of time to think at the hospital, and it just so happened that our government was deciding whether or not millions of people should have health care at that time. I think it made a big impact on American citizens.”

Billy was diagnosed with a heart disease at birth.

Kimmel explained that the particular condition meant that his son’s pulmonary valve was entirely blocked and that he had a hole in the wall between the left and right sides of his heart.

Billy will have to have more surgeries after this first one in order to combat this issue.

Kimmel said that the second open heart surgery will probably take place over the next few months, and the final one will occur when his son is grown up – “sometime maybe in his early teens to replace the valve he has now.”

The dad-of-four has thanked fans on Instagram for all of their “love and support.”
