Mark Zuckerberg wants you to read more books

He’s responsible for creating one of the most famous ‘books’ ever invented, but it’s tomes of a more traditional kind Mark Zuckerberg is promoting these days. The Facebook billionaire kicked off 2015 with a post (on his own social network, of course) encouraging Facebookers “to read a new book every other week — with an emphasis on learning about different cultures, beliefs, histories and technologies.”

The entrepreneur plans to post the titles of the books he’s reading this year in a dedicated page entitled A Year of Books, which already has almost 140,000 fans. Book club members are invited to use the page to discuss the book once they’ve read it and a new title will be recommended every two weeks.

Commenting on the first book, Moisés Naím’s The End of Power, Zuckerberg said: “It’s a book that explores howbook the world is shifting to give individual people more power that was traditionally only held by large governments, militaries and other organizations. The trend towards giving people more power is one I believe in deeply, and I’m looking forward to reading this book and exploring this in more detail.”
