Karen Buckley: Man arrested after human remains discovered near farm

A 21-year-old man was formally arrested this morning

Police searching for missing Cork student Karen Buckley have uncovered a body believed to be that of the 24-year-old near High Craigton farm, north of Glasgow.

A 21-year-old man who had been detained by police last night has been formally arrested following the grim discovery. He is expected to appear before court on Friday.

In a statement, Police Scotland confirmed that officers had recovered human remains on the outskirts of Milngavie.

“Formal identification has yet to take place, however, police believe that they may be those of missing woman Karen Buckley.”

Karen’s family, including her parents John and Marion Buckley from Mourneabbey in Mallow, Co. Cork, have gathered in Glasgow and have been informed of the developments.
