Karen’s killer was FINALLY revealed on Fair City last night

Keeley Ryan

The killer was revealed last night.

It’s been a nail-biting few weeks for fans of Fair City as the mystery around who killed Karen unraveled.

A number of Carrigstown residents were on the list of potential suspects, after Karen was found in a pool of her own blood, with a stab wound to her abdomen.

But it all came to a head on Thursday night’s episode, which saw Kerri-Ann revealed to be the killer after continuing to try and convince Decco to go to Spain.

She phones Dolores, who convinces a cautious Pete that they should give the couple €20,000 as she worries they can’t actually afford to move to Spain.

When Kerri-Ann and Dolores present Decco with the cheque, he’s initially furious – before Pete reminds him how he’s treated Dolores in the past, leading him to gently turn down her offer.

Amid the rest of the drama surrounding the Carrigstown residents, Kerri-Ann starts to feel the net closing in…and is seen taking the murder weapon, a screwdriver, out of a section of the skirting board.

Jenny Dixon, the actress who plays Kerri-Ann on the soap, said that the soon-to-be mum is in “maternal protection mode” as the investigation continues to heat up.

She explained that in the coming episodes, she “will act in a way she feels compelled to.”

She added:

“Kerri-Ann is in a juxtaposed position of essentially being a completely moralistic and good character, duty- bound, yet also completely motivated by the desire for her happy family dream, her romance, her baby girl.

“She will try to maintain her secret for the good of her baby who needs her mother and her father, the family around her. She is in maternal protection mode.”

While she’s still got all of her hopes pinned on her and Decco moving to Spain to start a new life, Kerri-Ann is going to spiral out in the next few episodes – and it’s not going to go unnoticed.

Jenny explained:

“Kerri-Ann is not sleeping or eating. She’s fixated on getting out of this and protecting her family. She spirals into obsessive thoughts and actions, cleaning the weapon multiple times, an obsession that won’t go away.

“She changes the hiding place several times. She’s in a place of extreme turmoil and her erratic behaviour is being noted.”

The actress also hinted that the reveal of Karen’s killer will lead to some new questions being asked – including the fact that Kerri-Ann may not have acted alone.

She continued:

“After this first reveal episode airs, it raises new questions, with more raised than answered, it’s far from resolved.

“The episodes which follow will gradually unravel what and how exactly it all went down that fateful night.”
