The parents weren’t expecting that.

Mums and dads on the school run in London got a nice surprise when the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, turned up at their pre-school’s breakfast club.

The mother-of-three arrived at the London Early Years Foundation Stockwell Gardens Nursery and Pre-school to help serve breakfast.

It’s certainly not every day that young child are served breakfast by a member of the royal family but Kate has dedicated much of her time this year to visiting children’s facilities across the United Kingdom.

Last week the Duchess of Cambridge launched her landmark Five Big Questions survey.

The survey aims to spark a UK-wide conversation on early childhood.

Earlier this month Kate visited a children and parents centre in Cardiff where she discussed the importance of support for new mums by their communities.

Kate also spoke about her own experiences of feeling lonely and isolated as a young new mother after she gave birth to her first child George in 2013.

During her morning at the Stockwell Gardens Nursery and Pre-school, staff chatted about the importance healthy eating plays in a child’s development.

The Duchess helped to create a healthy breakfast for the students attending the pre-school and poured cereal while chatting to the children.

According to OK magazine while talking about her Early Years initiative and survey Kate revealed that a staggering number of parents had already taken part in it;

“It’s great to visit place like this where communities come together to support one another.

Last week I launched a UK wide survey on early childhood because I want to hear society’s views about raising the next generation.

I’m so happy that over 100,000 people from all across the UK have already completed it, and I can’t wait to see the results.”

Kate intends to focus on her Early Years initiative for the rest of the year.
