Kate Spade’s family release statement after her tragic passing

The 55-year-old designer died yesterday.

Designer Kate Spade was found dead in her home in New York yesterday morning after what police are calling a “tragic suicide”.

News of the designer’s passing broke yesterday evening and ever since, people have been sharing their condolences online.

Her family have since released a statement to the New York Daily News, saying:

“We are all devastated by today’s tragedy.

“We loved Kate dearly and will miss her terribly.

“We would ask that our privacy is respected as we grieve during this very difficult time.”

The official social media pages for Kate’s much-loved brand also shared the news of her death, saying:

“Kate Spade, the visionary founder of our brand, has passed.

“Our thoughts are with her family at this incredibly heartbreaking time.

“We honour all the beauty she brought into this world.”


It is reported that Spade’s body was found by her housekeeper around 10am yesterday morning with police officials confirming a note had been found on the scene.

The 55-year-old is survived by her husband Andy, and their 13-year-old daughter, Frances Beatrix Spade.
