Man arrested on suspicion of murdering mum-of-two Katie Kenyon

The mum has been missing since April 22nd.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering mum-of-two Katie Kenyon.

It is believed the mother knew the suspect.

Lancashire Police have not yet found the mum, but fear she is no longer alive.

They are currently searching for her.

They stated: “A man arrested on suspicion of the kidnap of missing mum Katie Kenyon has this afternoon been further arrested on suspicion of her murder.

“While Katie has not yet been found, and the search for her is continuing.”

“Detectives are now working on the basis that she is sadly no longer alive.”

They confirmed that the case has now moved from a missing person case to a homicide investigation.

Police arrested a 50-year-old man on April 26th.

He is currently in police custody and is being questioned about Katie’s disappearance.

Detectives have asked for additional time to question the suspect.

Investigating officers have informed Katie’s loved ones of recent developments.

“Katie’s family continues to be supported by specially trained officers.”

Katie has not been since 9.30 am on Friday, April 22nd.

She was last seen leaving an address on Todmorden Road in Burnley.

She was with a man at the time and they travelled in a silver Ford Transit to the Bolton by Bowland area.

Detective Superintendent Gary Brooks said they’re not hopeful about finding Katie alive.

“While I hold some slim hope that Katie may still be found alive I’m sad to say that Katie has now been missing for over four days.”

Police are currently searching for her in Gisburn Forest, as well as other locations.

“We have spoken to Katie’s family today and they are understandably extremely upset by this latest development.

“My thoughts are with them at this time.”
