Katie Piper’s acid attacker could soon be released from prison.

The model and TV personality had sulphuric acid thrown over her face and upper body when she was just 24-years-old.

The attack, carried out by Stefan Sylvestre, was organised by Piper’s ex-boyfriend, Daniel Lynch. Piper received permanent scarring and was left partially blind as a result.

Both Sylvestre and Lynch received life sentences, with the former receiving a minimum of six years imprisonment for grievous bodily harm.

Sky News reports that Sylvestre is due to go before his parole board soon and that if he is found to not be a danger to society, he could be released as early as next month.

A Parole Board spokeswoman said:

“We can confirm that a panel of the Parole Board has considered the parole review for Stefan Sylvestre and expect to receive the panel’s decision in the coming weeks.

“We are unable to comment further on the individual details of this case.”

This comes after Piiper became the first star announced for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The philanthropist said that she wanted to do the show get out of her comfort zone.

She said:

“I was really worried – will I be the first person to go home? The only person I told was my husband, through text message, and he thought I was joking.”
