For Katie Price however, the method of application could do with improving.
The model and author shared the results of a DIY faux tanning disaster on her Instagram Stories this morning.
Speaking to her 1.7m fans from the back of a tour bus, Price revealed that her Fanta-orange glow and stained fingers and palms were the result of applying fake tan in a moving vehicle.
To make things worse, the Loose Women panellist had forgotten to pack her tanning mitt, leaving her no option but to slather on her SkinnyTan using a sock.
Yes, a sock.
Explaining her predicament to the camera, the mum-of-five said: “Morning guys, we’re on the way to Manchester with the glamorous Jo… She’s taking the p**s out of my fake tan gone wrong because I did it in the van. Oh dear.”
Hey, we’ve all been there. Nothing that six litres of body scrub and a weekend in the bath can’t fix.
