Katie Taylor outclassed her opponent Karina Kopinska in her professional boxing debut yesterday at the Wembley Arena in London.
The five-time world and 2012 Olympic champion won the fight with a third-round stoppage of Kopinska. Katie's next fight is scheduled for the 10th of December and hopes are high that the Irish champion could challenge for a world title at the end of next year.
The 30-year-old Bray native told BBC Sport:
Taylor's promoter Eddie Hearn said:"That would be the dream, boxing for a world title in Dublin, or anywhere in Ireland. I don't want to get too carried away, it was only my first fight as a pro, but I plan to do big things in this sport. I hope to be multiple-weight world champion."
"There was huge pressure on her, not just to get the win but to put in a performance. It couldn't have gone any better. She needed a good start to get hold of the non-believers. Forget about whether it is men's or women's boxing, she can fight and entertain."Katie is making plans for a proper Irish Christmas, recently tweeting that she deserves tickets to the Late Late Toy Show after host Ryan Tubridy slipped up and accidentally called her 'Katie Hopkins'.
Tubs responded to say that he only loves, admires and adores one Katie - the Irish one!I think I deserve a couple of tickets to the toy show after that slip up!! @RTELateLateShow #YouKnowYouWantTo ? https://t.co/CDgYKDtDtW
