My family flipped out at me for kissing their baby on the head- was I wrong?

“They have every right to say they aren’t comfortable with this.”

One woman is feeling conflicted after her family snapped at her for kissing their baby.

She explained that her partner’s son and his girlfriend were visiting them with their newborn.

The woman was able to hold their baby boy for a while, but the couple was furious over what she did next.

“Yesterday my partner’s son and girlfriend came around with their 3-month-old baby. A little boy.

“They are very funny about anyone holding him but I did manage to get a little cuddle.”

“As I held him I absent-mindedly kissed the top of his head,” she revealed.

“I was in no uncertain terms told that kissing was a no-no and I felt terrible, she confessed.

She explained that the couple had already fallen out with the girlfriend’s mother because she also kissed the baby on his head.

“I obviously won’t do it again as it’s against their wishes but I just wanted to ask what other people think of it.”

“I know you shouldn’t kiss babies on the mouth because of the worry of HPV but did I do something wrong?”

Many agreed that she should have just respected the couple’s wishes and left the baby alone.

“I think it’s pretty common in this day and age for parents to request no kissing of their baby.”

Another said, “Why would you even consider kissing an infant when there are so many bugs going around. You knew they were nervous. They have every right to say they aren’t comfortable with this.”

Others felt like the parents were overreacting, but what do you think?
