The latest Strictly star to be announced is very underwhelming

It's a first for the show.

It’s a first for the show.

With Strictly comes the glitz and glam of the dancing world. The likes of Mollie King from the Saturdays and Gemma Atkinson, who have been confirmed for the new series, will fit perfectly into this setting.

Even Ruth Langsford will be very entertaining on the dance floor.

But the last person we expected to take part was Reverend Richard Coles. Who… you might ask? Don’t worry, you’re not alone.

Reverend Richard Coles is a priest in the UK. He’s also a journalist, radio broadcast and former pop star. He was part of the band The Communards in the 1980s, who had the biggest-selling single of 1986, Don’t Leave Me This Way.

He’s apparently very well known in the UK, but his addition to the show is just a little unexpected. It’s the first time a man of the cloth has taken part in the show.

He confirmed the news on Chris Evan’s breakfast show this morning. Speaking about his place on the show he said, “Cometh the hour, cometh the overweight Vicar with arthritis in his knees.”
