Lego has been a playroom staple since we were the toddlers sat on the carpet surrounded by colourful bricks, but every brand must evolve to stay relevant and we are super excited about the company’s upcoming launch.
Lucky fans were given a sneak peek at the newest addition to the Lego family at the New York Toy Fair recently, and it includes some real everyday heroes.
The new LEGO City line will feature a working mom, a stay-at-home dad pushing a buggy and a child in a wheelchair with a guide dog.
The new figurines are part of an attempt to inclusively represent the modern world, according to president of LEGO Systems Soren Torp Laursen.
“We need to stay in tune with the world around us,” he told Fortune. “We aren’t responding to demand from anyone. We are trying to portray the world around us and listen to our consumer base.”
Who needs astronauts and Ghostbusters, eh?
