This life-changing hack will help you sleep comfortably during the heatwave

Kat O'Connor

Is anyone else struggling to sleep at the moment?

Getting a full night’s sleep during a heatwave just isn’t happening for us.

The temperatures are still in the late teens when we hit the hay and it’s honestly too warm to even go near our duvet. Is anyone else struggling to catch some decent shut-eye without waking up in a pool of your own sweat?

Attractive, we know.

We leave the windows open but then every insect feels the need to venture into the room. It’s a cruel world.

And we can’t even leave our fans on during the night because apparently, it isn’t good for your health, so where does that leave us?

Have we considered sleeping on the cold tiles of the kitchen floor? Maybe… Luckily, this new life hack has come to our rescue.

People have found that freezing your hot water bottle and putting it in your bed helps cool you down.

All you need to do is fill the hot water bottle up about 2/3 of the way and put it in the freezer for a couple of hours. Take it out when you’re heading to bed and you’ll be able to enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep without feeling like you’re inside an oven.

As much as we love the sunshine, we’re just not cut out for these temperatures.

If you do try this hack then it is important to remember to use a different hot water bottle in winter because freezing can cause the hot water bottle seal to expand. This could cause boiling water to leak out when you use it again in cooler seasons so be extremely cautious.
