An Everton soccer fan has been handed a lifetime ban for getting involved in a pitch-side brawl while holding a small child.

A fight broke out during last night’s Europa League clash between home side Everton and visitors Lyon at Goodison Park when Everton captain Ashley Williams pushed Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes.

Up to 20 players were involved in the ensuing chaos, reports The Guardian.

Footage from the game shows that the supporter, who was sitting close to the action, was holding a young child with a dummy in his mouth in one arm when he ran after the fighting players and tried hit out at Anthony Lopes.

The club said today that it will take swift action against the fan.

“Club officials have reviewed the footage of an incident that occurred in the 64th minute of the game against Olympique Lyonnais where supporters towards the front of the lower Gwladys Street End became involved in a confrontation between players,” a representative said in a statement.

“This will include a ban from attending future Everton fixtures and the club registering a formal complaint with Merseyside Police.”
