Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis, dies aged 54

Her last public appearance was at the Golden Globes this week.

Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, has passed away at the age of 54.

She had been admitted to an ICU in California, and passed away shortly after. It is understood that she was transported to hospital after suffering cardiac arrest at home.

A statement from her family read: “Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie.

“They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.”

Another statement from her mother Priscilla to People Magazine read: “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.”

Lisa Marie was a singer in her own right, and released three albums throughout her career – To Whom It May Concern (2003), Now What (2005) and Storm & Grace (2012).

Her last public appearance was at the Golden Globes earlier this week, where Austin Butler was awarded Best Actor in a Motion Picture for portraying her father in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis.

In accepting his award, he thanked Lisa Marie and Priscilla, saying: “Thank you, guys. Thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me. Lisa Marie and Priscilla, I love you forever.”

Since news of her passing was announced, a number of tributes have been coming in.

A statement from Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson read: “Our hearts are broken with the sudden and shocking passing of Lisa Marie Presley tonight…. It’s too much.”

On Instagram, John Travolta wrote: “Lisa baby girl, I’m so sorry. I’ll miss you but I know I’ll see you again.”
