Little Miss Sunshine the Musical is coming to Dublin this summer and we’re mad to go

This sounds brilliant.

A must-see.

It’s one of our very favourite films so we’re buzzing that Little Miss Sunshine will hit the stage in musical form this summer.

‘Little Miss Sunshine: A Road Musical’ is coming to Dublin’s Olympia Theatre for a five-night run in August.

The show is based on the hit 2006 indie movie that introduced the world to 12-year-old aspiring beauty queen Olive Hoover and the rest of her family – mum Sheryl, dad Richard, brother Dwayne, grandpa Edwin and uncle Frank.

It follows the clan as they put their various troubles aside to travel hundreds of miles to California in their old VW camper van so Olive can compete in the Little Miss Sunshine pageant.

Though dark, the story is hilarious and will leave even the most hardened cynic with a smile that they can’t wipe from their face for the rest of the day.

Tony award-winning duo James Lapine and William Finn have breathed new life into the story with original music.

This production stars Irish woman Lucy O’Byrne in the role of Sheryl.

Lucy has appeared in everything from ‘Evita’ and ‘Les Miserables’ to ‘The Sound Of Music’, including runs on the West End and around Europe.

‘Little Miss Sunshine: A Road Musical’ will run at the Olympia from Tuesday 13 to Saturday 17 August 2019, with matinée performances on Wednesday 14 and Saturday 17.

Tickets start at €21 and can be bought via Ticketmaster and the Olympia Theatre Box Office.
