The latest forecast suggests that there is a possibility of snow on Christmas Day.
Met Éireann has issued an update for the days to come, which includes an indication that it might snow or have 'wintery showers' on Christmas Day.
While the day will start off wet, the temperatures will begin to drop through the day leading to more wintery showers. They've said:
"Heavy rain affecting Atlantic counties will extend countrywide - some uncertainty to the timing of this still. After a mild start it will turn colder through the day too, as winds veer westerly. Very cold overnight with frost and ice, as well as well scattered showers - the odd wintry one possible."
Then the further outlook after that is for unsettled weather with more 'wintery falls' possible.
"Cold and unsettled into next week with active weather systems moving in from the Atlantic. Some wintry falls possible."
