The update came just minutes ago.

Both the Luas Red and Green Lines are now in operation after being shut down yesterday due to Hurricane Ophelia.

“Luas Red and Green Lines have returned to passenger service tonight Tuesday, October 17.

“Following a test of the track and technical systems tonight a decision was made to open service in advance of the publicised opening time tomorrow.”

Luas announced the news shortly after 9pm tonight and said both lines will run in accordance with the set timetables for this hour of the night.

They also confirmed that the services will commence at 5.30am as timetabled.

“Luas would like to thank customers for their patience today,” read the statement on the official website.

Services on the Red and Green lines were first suspended from lunchtime on Monday as the storm hit the capital.

The public transport company had been expected to resume services tomorrow morning but tonight announced that they had already resumed ahead of schedule.
