Worrying news.

Police have closed off a number of streets close to a primary school with reports of a ‘major incident’.

South Wales Police are dealing with the incident in Barry.

Details are scarce at the moment but Vale of Glamorgan council have urged people to avoid the area.

Jenner Park Primary School said in a statement: “Unfortunately the school will be closed today on the advice of South Wales Police due to a major incident near the main entrance which has meant the surrounding streets have had to be cordoned off. Therefore school is inaccessible.”

South Wales Police said: “Officers are at the scene of an incident in Barry Road, Barry.

A police cordon is in place and a number of roads are closed.”

BBC report that police vans are currently blocking off Barry Road and Court Road.

There’s a heavy police presence in the area and South Wales Police have urged people to avoid the area.
