A MAJOR Nineties pop star is coming to Vicar Street in May

Katie Mythen-Lynch

If you grew up the in Nineties, you’ll remember wailing along to Natalie Imbruglia’s hit song Torn.

Now, all these years later, we’ll all have the chance to see her sing it live right here in Ireland.

Dig out your zip-up hoodies and book a pixie cut at the salon because Natalie (42) has announced she will swing by Dublin as part of her 23-date Intimate, Acoustic International Tour, playing Vicar Street on Monday, May 15.

The singer hit the big time three years after leaving the TV show Neighbours, where she played Beth Brennan. Kicking off her singing career with her hit cover of Ednaswap’s song Torn, her subsequent album, Left of the Middle (released in… wait for it…1997), sold a whopping seven million copies worldwide.

Despite the fact that her subsequent albums White Lilies Island (2001) and Counting Down the Days (2005), did not sell as well, she’s since topped 10 million album sales in total, which is nothing to be sniffed at.

She also co-starred in the 2003 film Johnny English and starred in the 2009 film Closed for Winter.

Still, we’ll always remember her best from that Smash Hits poster on our childhood bedroom wall.
