A man has been arrested in Kerry following the assault of a pregnant woman.
The woman was beaten and hospitalised in Listowel over the weekend. The baby girl was stillborn some time later.
The woman was 32 weeks’ pregnant at the time of the assault.
RTE reports that Gardaà arrested a man in his 20s in connection with the assault but that he was later released without charges.
The Assistant State Pathologist will carry out a postmortem examination to discover why the baby was stillborn.
The woman is currently being treated at University Hospital Kerry.
