A man has been arrested after his partner (37) was fatally stabbed at a holiday campsite in Derry.

The PSNI arrested the 53-year-old man, believed to be the partner of the deceased, last night.

It is believed the couple was on holiday at the popular campsite just outside of Limavady.

According to reports, police were called to the scene on Monday evening. They were told a woman was stabbed at  Swanns Bridge Glamping site at Sea Coast Road.

Paramedics were unable to save the 37-year-old woman.

Forensics remained at the scene of the popular holiday site throughout yesterday.

The PSNI stated, “Officers attended, along with colleagues from Northern Ireland Ambulance Service but, sadly, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. She was 37 years old.”

“While our inquiries are at an early stage, I can confirm that both the victim and the man who was arrested were holidaymakers. We are not looking for anyone else in relation to this tragic death,” they added.
