‘Can men stop saying Margot Robbie is ruined because she’s pregnant?’

Kat O'Connor

Margot Robbie wasn’t born to be ogled at by creepy men online

Margot Robbie is an actress, producer, and soon-to-be mother. The Australian-born star has taken on many iconic roles during her time in Hollywood including Barbie, Tonya Harding, Harley Quinn, and Queen Elizabeth I.

Robbie is one of the most loved and celebrated stars in Hollywood, respected and adored by both her peers and viewers.

Unfortunately, she’s also a woman in the spotlight which means some members of society feel the need to mistreat her.

Some men see her as nothing but something to be drooled over. A woman to ogle at and say dismissive things about.

There’s nothing new there, famous and not-famous women have been dealing with this misogynistic attitude for lifetimes, but what’s really concerning is how men have been talking about Margot Robbie since she got pregnant.

Margot Robbie didn’t announce her pregnancy in any lavish way. The actress was simply spotted out in public and fans noticed her baby bump. It’s an important time in the mum’s life but one she likely wants to keep as private as possible.

Being pregnant is a vulnerable and emotional time for any woman, whether they’re an Oscar nominee or not. The last thing Robbie needs is for men to discuss how she’s ‘let herself go’ since becoming pregnant.

Margot Robbie deserves to enjoy her pregnancy without being ridiculed by random men on the internet

Yes, they’re actually complaining about the way she looks as if she owes them something.

The concerning comments have sparked a major debate online about the pressure women are under to look constantly perfect, even when they’re going through something as life-changing as pregnancy.

Influencer Bree Lenehan spoke out about the upsetting remarks men have been making online.

“Margot Robbie’s pregnant body has been trending online with the most vile comments…

“It’s like watching your favourite pub burn down”
“Barbie is not Barbieing in anymore”
“She’s really let herself go”
“Sad she’s ruined now”
“The b*st*rd who ruined her should pay”
“Absolutely disgusting”

Bree added, “These comments enraged me… Not only as a pregnant girly myself but also just as a decent human being who has had the privilege of being born thanks to my mother carrying me and bringing me to life.”

Margot Robbie doesn’t owe these random men anything. She doesn’t give up the right to be respected and treated with grace because she’s a celebrity.

People change when they’re pregnant. Their skin may glow or they may develop acne. They’ll likely experience changes in their body that they never would’ve before and that’s perfectly fine too.

There’s not just one type of beautiful and Margot Robbie has proven that time and time again. She shouldn’t be valued based on what she looks like but sadly some men only have the ability to focus on a woman’s looks.

As Bree perfectly put it, the least important thing about our body is how pretty it looks.
