Marty Morrissey’s mother Peggy killed in Co. Clare crash

“An only child losing the last surviving parent is terrible”

Marty Morrissey’s mother Peggy has sadly died in a car crash in Co. Clare.

The single-vehicle accident took place on Wednesday, December 7th.

The crash occurred in Annagh, Miltown Malbay in Co. Clare.

According to reports, Peggy was on her way to meet her beloved son before the devastating accident happened.

A friend of the family told Galway Beo, “She never liked being on her own when these big storms happened. So she decided to get up and go to a hotel. Marty had arranged to meet her there.”

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident, but sadly Peggy was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was the sole occupant of the car.

Her body was removed to University Hospital Limerick and a post-mortem will take place.

The road has been closed and an examination is underway. Locals diversions are in place.

Tributes have been pouring in since news of Peggy’s tragic death broke.

T.D Cathal Crowe wrote, “Earlier this evening it was confirmed that the lady who tragically lost her life in last night’s road accident near Miltown Malbay was Peggy Morrissey, mum of the much loved Marty Morrissey.”

“Just heard about Marty Morrissey’s mother. So sad. May she rest in peace and thoughts with Marty. An only child losing the last surviving parent is terrible,” another added.

Fianna Fáil Councillor Shane Talty told the Irish Mirror that the community is heartbroken.

“There’s huge shock and upset in the local community. Everybody’s thoughts are with Marty and the wider family circle.”

Gardaí have asked witnesses to come forward.
