Security will be tight.

Tight security will be in place for Dublin Pride

Better safe than sorry…

The Dublin Pride parade kicks off today and the armed Garda patrol unit has been put in place amid concerns of a possible terror threat. For those heading to the parade, bear in mind that a backpack ban is in place across much of the city.

Bollards are also being used around Dublin in order to protect the many thousands of pedestrians expected to turn out.

Specialist Garda units assured the public during the week that there has been no specific threat, however, officers added that necessary precautions must be taken in the wake of the recent terror attacks in the UK.

Newly elected Taoiseach Leo Varadkar is expected to attend today’s parade. The precautions put in place are not intended to scare people… rather to ensure the safety of the public.

You can find the full running order for the parade here.

Happy Pride!
