They are long-time friends and colleagues, so it really is no wonder that Matt Damon was one of the first people George Clooney let in on the news that his wife Amal was expecting.
It was finally confirmed last night, after weeks of speculation, that George and Amal Clooney are indeed expecting twins later this year. However, for George’s best buddy, actor Matt Damon, this wasn’t breaking news, as he had known about the happy secret for weeks already.
Damon, who himself is a dad-of-four, told Entertainment Tonight Canada last night how he had gotten really emotional when George told him Amal was pregnant.
“I was working with him last fall and he pulled me aside on set and I mean, I almost started crying. I was so happy for him,” Damon said about his longtime friend. “And I was like, ‘How far along is she?’ And he goes, ‘Eight weeks.'”
Apparently Matt then teased George about telling people before Amal was at least 12 weeks along. “‘Are you out of your mind?! Don’t tell anybody else! Don’t tell anybody else! Don’t you know the 12-week rule?'” he joked with him. “Like of course he doesn’t. [He said] ‘just shut up, man.’ And then four weeks later, I’m like, ‘We’re good right?’ [He said] ‘We’re good.'”
Nwah. Just imagine all the good advice Damon, who is already a dad to Isabella, 11, Gia, 9, and Stella, 7, as well as his wife’s daughter from her previous marriage, Alexia, who is 19 this year, will have to offer George in years to come!
Damon, 46, who, of course, attended the Clooney’s spectacular 2014 wedding in Italy, went on to gush about George and Amal’s connection.”I’m thrilled for him. She’s amazing. He hit the jackpot. Just on every level,” he added. “She is a remarkable woman. They’re gonna be great. They’re gonna be awesome parents. Those kids are lucky.”
