The A-list parents are in support of his decision
Angel Brown, the teenage child of Melanie ‘Mel B’ Brown and Eddie Murphy is now living as a transgender man.
Born in 2007 following the separation of Spice Girls singer Mel and Hollywood royalty Eddie – he’s returning as the voice of Donkey in next year’s Shrek 5 – Angel’s pronoun switch has reportedly been given a loving thumbs-up by the pair.
One source for MailOnline revealed: “It’s a decision Angel made and Mel has been understanding, likewise Eddie. There was no big event to mark it. Angel just wanted it to be known what pronouns are now suitable.”
Angel, who’s updated his pronouns across social media, has nine half-siblings through his father’s other relationships; Eric, Bria, Christian, Myles, Shayne, Zola Ivy, Bella Zahara, Izzy Oona, and Max, plus half-brother Phoenix and half-sister Madison from his mother’s romances with Jimmy Gulzar and Stephen Belafonte.
This comes after Mel marked the 18-year-old’s milestone birthday on Instagram back in April.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY ANGEL!!! I cannot believe [you’re] 18,” began her post.
“You are so special and so bright and so talented!! I [couldn’t] be prouder of watching you grow and become the person you are but [you’ll] forever be my babyyyy I [hope] you keep chasing [your] dreams and be kind to everyone around you like you always have been my Angel. Love you always [three heart emojis].”
Another high-profile star in the shape of Oppenheimer cast member Emma Dumont came out as trans masculine non-binary last Christmas.
The 30-year-old shared the news with their followers on Instagram, altering their bio to ‘they/them’ pronouns from ‘she/her.’
A representative told TMZ: “They identify as a trans masculine non-binary person. Their work name is still going to be Emma Dumont, but they will go by Nick with friends and family.”
