Met Éireann have issued a 24 hour rainfall warning for four counties.

The weather forecaster issued a status yellow alert for  Galway, Clare, Kerry and Limerick, which is due to come into effect at 2pm on Friday, November 1.

They warned that there will be spells of heavy rain in the areas, which will lead to accumulations of 30mm to 40mm during the period.

However, they noted that higher totals may be possible in upland areas.

The warning will end at the same time on Saturday, November 2.

It comes as Met Éireann are predicting “another cloudy day with further outbreaks of rain,” after forecasting a wash-out for Hallowe’en.

A spokesperson said that Friday will see rain, heavy at times with spot flooding possible in the later afternoon and evening, with temperatures reaching highs of 12C to 15C.

They continued:

“Continuing heavy showers throughout the night with indications of high rainfall accumulations in the southwest with strong winds around western and southern coastal regions.

“Lowest temperatures of 3C to 5C  in the east and northeast and 6C to 8C elsewhere.”

Saturday will see further spells of heavy rain or showers for most of Munster, Leinster and Connacht with lighter showers in Ulster.

And there will be more rain on Sunday, with mainly light westerly winds – although, they noted, temperatures will be around normal for this time of year.
