Met Éireann have issued a weather warning for the whole country. The status yellow rainfall warning came into effect at 6am on Friday, July 19 and will last until 3am on Saturday, July 20. The weather forecaster said that there will be "heavy, thundery downpours," which will lead to high levels of rainfall in short spaces of time today or early tonight. They warned that this may lead to localised spot flooding. However, it's not all bad news. Met Éireann forecasters have said there will be "some hazy, sunny spells at times" today, with temperatures hitting as high as 21C in some parts of the country,  but 16 or 17 degrees in the north and northwest. There will be further heavy or thundery showers in many areas this evening and at first tonight, prolonged in parts especially in the midlands and North with spot flooding likely. It will become drier and clearer from the west overnight, with temperatures dropping as low as 10C in some areas. The forecaster continued:

"Much of Saturday night will be dry but cloud will increase from the Atlantic with rain developing in Western parts towards morning and it will become breezy there with freshening southerly winds. Lowest temperatures of 11C to 14C degrees. "Sunday will be a breezy day with outbreaks of rain, possibly turning heavy in the west and north with the best chance of dry and bright weather in the east. "Highest temperatures of 18C to 22C degrees in fresh southerly winds. A humid night will follow with temperatures not lower than 15C to 17C degrees. "Rain will affect many areas during the night, with drier weather following from the South towards morning."
