Great day for it.

Met Éireann has issued a nationwide snow/ice weather warning while the many parts of the country continue to deal with the effects of Storm Ciara.

The status yellow warning was issued this afternoon and will come into effect at 00:01 on Monday, February 10 and will last until 23:59 on Tuesday, February 11.

It’s expected that the country will see widespread wintry showers on both Monday and Tuesday, with some snowfall accumulations in the west and north.

Met Éireann has warned that some disruption to travel may be possible, particularly over higher routes.

A status yellow wind warning has already been issued for the entire country due to the arrival of Storm Ciara.

The west of the country in particular has seen very strong gales with mean speeds of 50-65km/h, and gusts of between 90 and 110km/h.

The nationwide wind warning is valid until 12:00 on Monday.

Thousands of homes and businesses remain without power because of the storm.
