Met Éireann have issued a fresh weather warning for five counties.

The status yellow rainfall warning covers Galway, Mayo, Clare, Kerry and Limerick. It was put into place at 8am on Saturday, November 2 and will last until 11.59pm the same day.

The weather forecaster warned that there will be spells of rain during Saturday, with accumulations of up to 20mm possible – especially in upland areas.

Looking towards the general forecast, they are predicting a “wet” day in Connacht, Munster and parts of south Leinster, which will heavy rains at times as well as fresh to strong and blustery northwest winds – especially in southwest Munster.

Dry and bright conditions will begin in eastern and northeastern areas, with mist and fog cleaning. However, showers or longer spells of rain will spread to most parts of the country later this morning and afternoon.

On Saturday night, there will be further rain in many areas for a time – but it will break up into showers, with drier and clearer weather developing. Temperatures will range from 2C to 4C in the north, with a slight frost, and between 5C and 8C in other parts of the country.

Sunday will see a dry morning for many parts of Ulster and Leinster, but showery rain in parts of the west and southwest. The rain will transfer eastwards in the afternoon and evening and drying out in the west before a heavier spell of rain moves in off the Atlantic after dark.

Met Éireann have added that early next week will see some “very unsettled weather.”
