Met Éireann have issued a weather advisory for all of Ireland ahead of Storm Dennis.
And it’s looking pretty grim.
The country-wide weather advisory has been issued for 3am Saturday, February 15 until noon Monday, February 17. Weather warnings are expected to be issued on February 14.
Met Éireann have predicted that Storm Dennis will bring “very wet and very windy” conditions over the weekend, and into next week.
Some flooding is likely and damaging gusty winds with some disruption possible.
Looking towards the general forecast for the weekend, Met Éireann have forecasted Storm Dennis bringing a wet and windy day on Saturday. There will be strong southerly winds and widespread heavy rain, with a risk of flooding.
Temperatures during the day will reach 7C to 11C and will fall overnight to between 1C and 3C as the rain breaks up somewhat and skies clear, with widespread showers throughout the night.
Storm Dennis’ effects will continue to generate strong-to-near-gale southwest to west winds on Sunday. It will turn cooler with daytime temperatures of 6C to 9C with showers turning wintry on higher ground in the west, further east will stay mostly dry.
Scattered showers continuing overnight that night, with some turning to sleet or possibly snow in the north and northwest – and temperatures will reach 2C to 6C.
The windy weather is set to continue into Monday, with westerly winds driving further showers on the western coastal counties. Temperatures will reach highs of 7C to 9C.
The further outlook into midweek is for continued breezy conditions with westerly winds bringing showers to the west with the best of the sunny spells in the east.
