Met Eireann issues Status Yellow rain warning for ten counties at the weekend

Unfortunately, the sunshine can’t last forever.

Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow rain warning for ten counties, beginning today (Friday, March 21).

Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Galway and the province of Munster are all included in the warning.

Met Eireann was warned of: “Heavy rain and a few thundery downpours may result in spot flooding.”

Friday’s warning is in place from 2 pm until 2 pm on Saturday.

The weather forecaster has also placed a warning for small crafts from Mizen Head to Erris Head to Fair Head.

They said: “Southeasterly winds reach force 6 on coasts from Mizen Head to Erris Head to Fair Head.”

A similar warning is in place from Fair Head to Belfast Lough, with east-to-southeast winds reaching “force 6 at times.”

Mizen Head to Loop Head to Rossan Point has also been hit with a warning as “northerly winds will reach force 6 or higher.”

Saturday will also see marine warnings as a Status Yellow Gale warning is in place from Mizen Head to Valentia, from midnight on Saturday, March 22 until 6 am.

Met Eireann said: “Northerly winds will reach gale force 8 on Irish coastal waters from Mizen Head to Valentia.”
