As we’re all aware, it’s been freezing out lately.
Ireland is in the middle of a country-wide, five-day snow-ice weather warning – with it set to remain in place until midday on Saturday.
And ahead of another “extremely cold” evening, Met Éireann have revealed just how cold it got overnight last night – sharing a list of the temperatures taken at their weather stations as of 6am on Thursday.
The ‘warmest’ (and we’re using that term very lightly) temperature recording was -2.7C at Shannon Airport and Gurteen, Tipperary.
As for the coldest? That was at Dublin Airport, where it was -5.8C, followed by -4.8C recorded in Mullingar.
The full list reads:
- Dublin Airport: – 5.8C
- Mullingar: -4.8C
- Mount Dillon: -4.0C
- Oak Park: -3.7C
- Ballyhaise: -3.4C
- Grange: -3.1C
- Gurteen: -2.7C
- Shannon Airport: -2.7C
- Moore Park: -3.4C
- Phoenix Park: -3.9C
- Casement: -3.0C
Forecasters have said that it will be “extremely cold this evening and overnight”, with more wintry falls mainly in the south and east – where there will be “some snow accumulations” on lower levels.
They added:
“Frost and icy conditions too, all resulting in treacherous conditions. Lowest temperatures of 0 to -6 degrees Celsius, coldest across Ulster and west Connacht.”
